All eight seasons and three movies are now available to bring home as Psych: The Complete Collection arrives on Blu-ray from UPHE.
Psych started its eight-season run on July 7, 2006 and ran through March 26, 2014. A special episode, Psych: The Musical, aired between the seventh and eighth seasons. Following the TV dramedy’s run, three subsequent movies would follow. The first aired on USA Network while the other two would be Peacock exclusives. Most episodes feature a cold open that has Henry Spencer (Corbin Bernsen) teaching a lesson to Shawn and Gus during their childhood. The lesson would usually come back to play during the rest of the 42-minute episode.
While the complete series has previously been made available on DVD, Psych: The Complete Collection marks the first time that all episodes and films are together in the same collection. There are audio, podcast, and video commentaries throughout the set. If you check back in a few days, I will have the bonus features completely updated as I sort through the complete collection as there are over 30 discs.
Synopsis
Psych is a quick-witted dramedy about a young police consultant, Shawn Spencer (James Roday Rodriguez), who solves crimes with powers of observation so acute that he’s convinced Santa Barbara PD detectives into thinking he’s psychic. With the reluctant assistance of his best friend Gus (Dulé Hill), Shawn uses his skills of observation and charismatic personality to become the detective he was trained to be, opening his own PI agency – Psych – and solving cases for an ever-suspicious, but grudgingly impressed, police force. With Shawn’s fake psychic sleuthing and sidekick Gus’ nose for clues, the unlikely duo tackles countless murders and mysteries.
