Jillian Bell and Joshua Leonard sat down with Solzy at the Movies to discuss their new comedy, The Drop, launching on Hulu.

Lex (Anna Konkle) and Mani (Jermaine Fowler) are a young married couple running their dream artisanal bakery in Los Angeles. Both of them are excited about starting a family together in the future. To them, a friend’s destination wedding at a tropical island resort is the perfect opportunity for conceiving a child. After all, Lex’s ovulation cycle just happens to coincide with the trip. Shortly after their arrival, Lex drops her friend’s (Aparna Nancherla) baby in front of all their friends. Their perfect paradise vacation soon becomes purgatory.

Leonard co-wrote the script with director Sara Adina Smith. The Duplass Brothers executive produce the film while Jonako Donley, Mel Eslyn, Sarah Adina Smith, Joshua Leonard, Shuli Harel, Tim Headington and Lia Buman serve as producers.

Hulu launches The Drop on January 13, 2022.

I regret that my current schedule prevents me from transcribing the interview at the moment. When time permits, I plan to update this piece with the transcript. For the time being, please enjoy my nearly 10-minute conversation with both Jillian Bell and Joshua Leonard as we discuss The Drop.

Hulu will release The Drop on January 13, 2023.
