A number of short films are screening during the 2023 Sundance Film Festival but the following were a select few that piqued my interest. Mirror Party (U.S. Fiction/Short Film Program 6) Following two shorts and a feature, Bridey Elliott returns to Sundance with her third short film to premiere at the festival. This time around, Elliott co-writes and stars with Angela Trimbur in a short film about two women role-playing a breakup conversation. Which reminds…"Short Films Roundup – Sundance 2023"
I Think She Likes You has us thinking that it is one type of comedy but the reality is that there’s something hiding just beneath the surface. A night at the bar takes a quick turn into something else for Jake (Josh Fadem) when he meets Julia (Teresa Lee). Julia spots Justine (Christine Medrano) across the way and thinks she likes Jake. The next thing we know, Jake finds himself in a threesome with both…"Tribeca 2019: I Think She Likes You"
The 2019 SXSW Film Festival had no shortage of laughs, thrills or outright drama when it comes to the shorts screening during the fest. Narrative Shorts Stepdaddy sees a reunion between Patricia (Lauren Blumenfeld) and Wyatt (Max Jenkins). The quick backstory is that the two of them did a work study for the same professor during their senior year. Anyway, Patricia brings wine so she’s more than a bit drunk. All the while, Wyatt is…"SXSW 2019: The Shorts Program"
Clara’s Ghost, the feature directorial debut from writer-director Bridey Elliott, offers audiences an exaggerated glimpse into the lives of one of America’s most comedic families. The supernatural comedy makes for a solid first feature from the younger Elliott daughter as she makes her return to Sundance two years following the premiere of the short film, Affections. Ted Reynolds (Chris Elliott) is a comedic actor and he’s worried that he is no longer as popular as…"Clara’s Ghost: An Exaggerated Look At The Elliotts"
Men Don’t Whisper, one of my favorite short films that played Sundance and SXSW, is now available on Vimeo to watch. The 22-minute short film was directed by Jordan Firstman. Firstman wrote the screenplay with Search Party creator Charles Rogers. The two of them star alongside Fort Tilden co-stars Claire McNulty and Bridey Elliott. Elliott took home a Solzy Award in 2015 for her breakthrough performance in Fort Tilden. Firstman and Rogers star as Peyton…"Men Don’t Whisper is Now Available"
