MoviePass drops subscription price to $9.95/Month

MoviePass made some huge news this past week as the subscriber-based service dropped their subscription price from $14.95 to $9.95 a month. I had heard about this service for a while but decided to pass on it as they are not accepted by AMC Theaters.  With their low costs, people would seem likely to take advantage of their services but just like with Netflix, moviegoers would rather pay the low fees than the higher costs. …

Remembering actor/comedian Robin Williams

It’s been three years since actor-comedian Robin Williams ended his life in 2014.  His suicide followed a misdiagnosis of Parkinson’s disease when what he was suffering from was diffuse Lewy body dementia. When he was alive, he was one of the funniest people I have ever seen.  Even as Disney produces the live-action Aladdin, Will Smith will never be able to bring to that role what Robin brought to his performance as The Genie.  It’s…

I Won’t See The Emoji Movie

(Hi there, if you’re being directed here from an article about TJM’s email, please click here). Heading into the tail end of last week, there was no score reported on Rotten Tomatoes for The Emoji Movie and there’s a reason for this–it wasn’t offered to us as a press screening.  In other words, if we wanted to consider this film for awards season, we’ll have to see it ourselves. For actor Will Poulter, filming Detroit, due out in select theaters on Friday, has to have been one of the toughest things he’s done in his career. Michael Caine makes voice cameo in Dunkirk

Michael Caine has been a veteran of Christopher Nolan films for many years dating back to Batman Begins in 2005.  As such, it came as a surprise that the veteran actor wasn’t listed in the credits for the recently released Dunkirk. Nolan, however, was able to sneak the acting veteran into the film with an uncredited voice cameo addressing Tom Hardy’s Royal Air Force pilot, Farrier, while in the air.  This enables the actor to…
