28th SAG Awards: The Winners (Live Updates)

Courtesy of SAG Awards.

Solzy at the Movies will be providing live updates as tonight’s 28th SAG Awards take place at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica.

I made my predictions this morning so please feel free to check how I’m doing throughout the night. To give you an idea of overlap with the Academy, there are 124,000 SAG-AFTRA members in good standing. The Academy consists of under 10,000 members from across the various industry guilds.

The first two awards were presented to the motion picture and television Stunt Ensemble teams during the People & Entertainment Weekly Red Carpet Live: 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Pre-Show livestream.

Kate Winslet is unfortunately not able to attend the ceremony in person to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dame Helen Mirren in person. Instead, she is doing so remotely by video and passes the baton to Cate Blanchett. I love the brilliant editing during the montage especially where Helen says “I’m not the queen” before an immediate cut to Helen Mirren as the queen.

In accepting the award for the Succession ensemble, Brian Cox delivered what might just be the speech of the night. He spoke not just about Ukraine but the treatment of Russians in the industry.

Michael Keaton is using his speech as a clapback against all those people telling actors to just shut up and act. He also mentions Ukraine during his speech. He breakdown as he dedicates the award to sister and his late nephew.
