Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous – Season 3

The third season of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous may be the most intense season as we worry about the fate of the campers.

In a perfect world, we’d be getting Jurassic World: Dominion this summer. This might not happening but we can still return to Isla Nublar this week. I always have a fun time going back to the island. Strangely, I keep turning to these films and series for comfort viewing during the pandemic. Is that messed up? That’s a rhetorical question–don’t answer it! I devoured the press screeners just about as soon as they were sent last month. Believe me when I say, you are in for a thrilling and intense fun ride.

We left off last season with the mystery surrounding E750 and the gang realizing that nobody is coming to rescue them. When we meet them again during the season premiere, they’ve just left the island on a raft. To nobody’s surprise, things go very bad and they end up back on Isla Nublar. The series doesn’t specify how much time has passed since the second season finale and we’re still not quite at the opening of Fallen Kingdom in June 2016. Going further in the timeline, the volcano doesn’t become active until early 2017. Showrunners Scott Kreamer and Aaron Hammersley certainly have some room to play with regards to the timeline.

What I love about this season is the character growth. Even during the course of six months, Darius (Paul-Mikél Williams), Brooklynn (Jenna Ortega), Kenji (Ryan Potter), Sammy (Raini Rodriguez), Ben (Sean Giambrone), and Yaz (Kausar Mohammed) have grown so much. You get a sense of trouble between Brooklynn and Yaz though. I don’t know exactly what it is. Ben is perhaps too close with Bumpy to really be able to let her go. At the same time, he’s grown up so much since arriving for the first time at camp.

In watching this season, there’s a lot of hope that they’ll be able to get off the island. Don’t forget that Mitch and Tiff’s boat is still out there somewhere. Could this be their way off? You’ll just have to tune in and find out. Without giving away spoilers, I can say that this season is the most intense yet.

Rexy got so much love during the second season but she’s not a big part of this season. She’ll always be a fan favorite but the series devotes screen time to other dinosaurs. We’ve seen some of them before. Others, not so much. At least one other fan favorite makes an appearance. If you’ve seen the trailer, it’s not a spoiler to say that they come across more of Dr. Wu’s secret research. I won’t really say more beyond this but knowing what we know from his actions in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, you can’t help but wonder who he was really working for! There were some scenes during the season that made me smile and you know exactly why when you watch the new season.

The third season of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is just as thrilling as the films.
