SAG Awards: 26th Screen Actors Guild Award Winners

The 26th Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards) are taking place tonight live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Solzy at the Movies will be providing updates throughout the telecast.

During the Red Carpet, the Stunt Performers were awarded to both Avengers: Endgame and Game of Thrones.

I love this built with Eugene Levy, Dan Levy, and Tom Hanks.  Hanks is making the same face as he did during the Golden Globes two weeks ago.

The cast of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is speechless on winning.  Alex Borstein confesses to having voted for Fleabag.  All the speeches for winning the Actor claim that the win is a mistake and that it belongs to Fleabag.

With Laura Dern’s win tonight, it’s safe to expect that we’ll be hearing her name again on Oscar Sunday.

Brad Pitt gives one of the highlight speeches of the night during the SAG Awards upon winning an Actor:

I gotta add this to my Tinder profile.

Thank you, my brothers, my sisters. This means so much. More than I can possibly fathom. I want you to know I watch everything. I watch you all. And the work has been mesmerizing, so I thank you. I want to thank my costars, Leo, Margot Robbie, Margot Robbie’s feet, Margaret Qualley’s feet, Dakota Fanning’s feet. Seriously. Quentin has separated more women from their shoes than the TSA.

Now, we all know what we do is a team sport, and we elevate each other, and I’ve got to work with some amazing, amazing people. Mr. Pacino, Mr. Dern, Kurt Russell, Leo, Dakota, Tim — wait, where are you guys, Ms. Butters, a bunch of the new generation, Margaret Qualley, Austin Butler. Anyway, you all elevated my game, I certainly hope I did the same for you.

Let’s be honest, it was a difficult part. A guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn’t get along with his wife. It was a big stretch. Big. Listen. I love our community. I love our community so much. It’s been amazing to me. Each — I met so many amazing people along the way. Each of us in this room, you know, we know pain, we know loneliness, we bring that to the screen. We know moments of grace, we’ve had moments of wisdom, we bring that to the screen. We’ve all had a laugh at our ridiculousness, and we know funny, and we bring that to the screen. And

God damn, I think that’s a worthy endeavor. I’ve been banging away at this thing for 30 years. I think the simple math is some projects work and some don’t, and there’s no reason to belabor either one. Just get on to the next, and keep telling stories. Thank you for this. My love and respect.

Enjoy the evening because tomorrow it’s back to work.

Jennifer Aniston is shocked to win for her performance in The Morning Show.  Her previous win came with the ensemble cast of Friends.  She shouts out Adam Sandler: “Your performance is extraordinary.  Your magic is real.”

Leonardo DiCaprio presents Robert De Niro with the Lifetime Achievement Award.  De Niro gets a standing ovation.

Sam Rockwell upon winning the Actor: “Wow, I did not expect this at all.”  “To my fellow nominees, I really did not think I’d be standing up here.  I share this with all of you.”

Joaquin Phoenix uses his speech to talk up the other actors in the category before giving a shout-out to the late Heath Ledger.

Unlike last night, Producers Guild winner 1917 was not in contention during the SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

Eugene and Dan Levy return to bookend the show by presenting the final SAG Awards category of the night: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.  Parasite taking home the Actor certainly shakes up the race after 1917 won big last night.  The Oscars take place on February 9, 2020.
