It’s time for Animaniacs! Today came word that Hulu, Amblin Television, and Warner Brothers Animation teamed up to announce a new version of the iconic cartoon franchise. The new episodes, which won’t air until 2020, come with a two-season straight-to-series order.
This isn’t the only piece of news that comes with today’s announcement. Hulu and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution also agreed to a new deal that makes Hulu the exclusive streaming home to the complete library of all 99 episodes of the original Animaniacs, as well as Pinky and the Brain, the subsequent Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain, and the complete Tiny Toon Adventures collection. The original Animaniacs made its television debut in 1993.
Steven Spielberg will return as executive producer of the series. Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, and Amblin Television Co-Presidents Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank will be joining Spielberg as executive producers. The series will be the first Hulu Original to be made for families and it will be intended for families to experience together. Given how many parents likely grew up on the inseparable siblings, it wouldn’t be a surprise for them to join in watching with their children.

This marks yet another big move for us as we continue our efforts to be the #1 streaming destination for premium animated content.”
