Paramount Pictures releases mother! trailer starring Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence in mother!

We got our first look at mother!, the psychological thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Jennifer Lawrence, when Paramount Pictures released the trailer on Monday.

Synopsis:

A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence. From filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream), mother! stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer in this riveting psychological thriller about love, devotion and sacrifice.

Also featured in the film are Kristen Wiig and Domhnall Gleeson.

Aronofsky writes and directs mother! as the Black Swan director makes his long-overdue return to the big screen since 2014’s biblical film, Noah.

This is the first film for the Louisville native since co-starring with Chris Pratt in Passengers at the end of 2016.  Next up for the actress is Red Sparrow and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.  Both films are expected to be released in 2018.

Given what we see in the trailer, the question is whether it will be strong enough to contend for an Oscar as Awards Season begins to heat up.

The thriller will first make its world premiere at the 74th Venice Film Festival before heading to Canada for the North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Paramount Pictures will release mother! on September 15, 2017.
