The Librarians spins off into book trilogy

The Librarians, recently renewed for their fourth season, has spun off into a trilogy of books written by Greg Cox.

It started with 2016’s The Librarians and The Lost Lamp. This book flashes back between 2006 and present day. With Flynn Carsen off doing who knows what, the flashbacks are the only way to keep the Librarian involved. Given the title, it’s an easy guess to say that there’s a focus on Aladdin’s lamp.

The Book of One Thousand and One Nights and Scheherazade play a large role in the book. As do the Forty, a criminal organization believed to descend from the original Forty Thieves.

Cut to present day and there’s a mystery needing solved in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thought to perhaps relate to a lucky penny, the Librarians soon realize that the penny is not the cause of all the mysterious luck going on for one gambler.

It’s a pretty exciting read and would make for a fun two-hour episode should they ever decide to go that route.

The second book in the trilogy is The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase.

Elizabeth Goose published a collection of rhyming spells in 1719 but since it was published as a children’s book, one can imagine just how much power is going to be created through all of these spells. The Librarian of that era managed to get things under control.

Until now. With crazy things happening, Col. Eve Baird and the team of Cassandra, Ezekiel, and Stone suspect that Mother Goose’s book is back in action. Flynn Carsen is AWOL once more so it is up to them to save the day.

The third book has yet to be published. If it is anything like the first two, it is sure to be fun!

Starring Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth and John Harlan Kim, with John Larroquette, and Noah Wyle, The Librarians will return for a fourth season later this year on TNT.

If you’re a fan of the television series, you’ll love the books.
