The 24th Slamdance Film Festival has unveiled the lineup for the 2018 installment of the film festival taking place Jan. 19 to Jan. 25, 2018, in Park City, Utah. Given the accusations against him, Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor has made the decision to quit his role in the Amazon series as Maura Pfefferman. The news of Tambor quitting the series comes following Transgender Awareness Week and one day before the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. Harry Dean Stanton, a longtime character actor, has died at the age of 91 years old. Stanton, a Kentucky native, will soon be seen in Magnolia Pictures’ Lucky. I learned this morning that Shelley Berman, a longtime comedian, has died at the age of 92. Folowing a brief obit, I share my own thoughts of emailing with the late comedian. A statement on his fan page says that he died “at his home in Bell Canyon, CA, due to complications from Alzheimer’s.” A Chicago native, Berman performed back in the day with the Compass Players, a predecessor to The Second City.
