Speed, an Oscar winner for both Best Sound Editing and Sound Mixing, is now available for audiences to watch on 4K Ultra HD. The 4K upgrade comes just over a month shy of the film’s 27th anniversary. Marvel Phase 4: See You At The Movies!

Marvel Studios released a short video this morning that did two things: welcoming fans back to theaters and previewing Marvel Phase 4. After a Stan Lee narration sets the tone, Marvel shows clips from Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and Eternals. The clip from Eternals marked our first look at the film directed by recent Oscar winner Chloé Zhao. Following these clips, the studio went on to show dates and…

Tango Shalom Falls Under Hasidsploitation

Tango Shalom, currently playing the Jewish film festival circuit, makes some questionable choices in a film about a Chasidic Jew. I’m Orthodox and as such, I’m entering the film through that perspective. Prior to the pandemic, I would split my time between the local Modern Orthodox shul and Chabad. Even back home, I was exclusive to Chabad.  With that being said, this film falls short on so many levels. Rabbi Moshe Yehuda (Jos Laniado) considers…

Secretariat Gets You In The Kentucky Derby Mood

Secretariat is just the film about horse racing to get people in the right mood for the annual running of the Kentucky Derby. If you want a horse racing film, you certainly could not do wrong with the Oscar-nominated Seabiscuit. Seabiscuit is without a doubt the better of the two films but we’re not here to talk about that film today. No, we’re here to discuss the one set during the three Triple Crown races.…

Scott Abramovitch talks Eat Wheaties!

Writer-director Scott Abramovitch spoke with Solzy at the Movies last week about his new film, Eat Wheaties!, starring Tony Hale. As the call got underway, I learned that the filmmaker was a former bat boy for the Montreal Expos from 1992-1997. I’m a baseball fan myself so we could have talked forever about baseball. It just so happened that during the phone call, the Bally Sports Midwest telecast of the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington…
