Four Hours at the Capitol is an in-depth chronicle of what took place during the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

“Anakin, my allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith

The above quote is one that I kept going back to in the final two months of 2020 and early days of 2021. It’s sad that it’s even relevant but this is what happens when the outgoing president refuses to accept reality. Something so basic as accepting the results of the Electoral College should be simple. You accept the vote of one state and move onto the next. However, on January 6, 2021, what we saw was an attempted coup by Donald J. Trump and his supporters. It is behavior that is unbecoming of an American president. This was the act of an authoritarian, of a dictator. It was not a great day for America as some of these motherfucking traitors seemingly believe.

Filmmaker Jamie Roberts incorporates a lot of never-before seen footage from either inside or outside the Capitol. He interviews  lawmakers, staffers, police officers, journalists, protesters, and rioters. Any insurrectionist in this film should be in jail for their actions. The day’s actions led to one Capitol Police officer dying, 140 injured between the D.C. and Capitol police forces, and four more officers taking their lives later.

To the man who thinks that Donald Trump was anointed by G-d, please get the help you need. Every single one of the motherfucking insurrectionists should also be held accountable for their fucking actions. I don’t apologize for being blunt. It makes me so fucking infuriating to see people getting off scot-free. Why is it so hard to hold people accountable? They are nothing but traitors and should be held accountable for their actions!

Do not forget Ted “Cancun” Cruz and Josh Hawley. Two members of the United States Senate helped to incite this insurrection. One year later, both men are still sitting in the U.S. Senate. Why? Both men are in clear violation of the Constitution! The Constitution is clear as fucking day in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

The same applies to members of the House of Representatives. How many are guilty? How many are still holding office? We still need the answers. Just thinking about this makes me angry a year later! At the same time, new memos have revealed that Trump prevented the National Guard from protecting the U.S. Capitol. Every single insurrectionist should be arrested. Hell, Sean Hannity should be out of a job.

I remember watching TV a year ago. I was glued to the TV. In the days that followed the events, I couldn’t even concentrate on movies. There were many apologies being sent to publicists because no work was getting accomplished.

Over a year later, we see the fractures in American democracy. All you have to do is take one look at the pandemic. Republicans are the people more likely to not take the Covid-19 vaccine. They are the ones who are preventing us from coming out of the pandemic. America can do and should do better. My only fear is that a Republican takeover of Congress would mean no more elections,. They are doing everything in their power to prevent the passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. They are of the fucking belief that their votes are stolen when they are the ones who are preventing minorities from being able to vote. Republicans should not be getting away with taking away voting rights.

What happened on January 6, 2021 is an event that should never have happened. This documentary will only result in more anger. Anger at the insurrectionists and the political leaders who backed it. Hold every single one accountable.
