In a bootleg recording of a recent Louis CK stand-up performance, it was revealed that the stand-up comedian has resorted to telling transphobic jokes.
It’s been just over a year since the comedian fell out of good grace with the public following a NY Times report. He started making his comeback earlier this year at the Comedy Cellar with surprise performances. With venues such as the Cellar booking the comedian, they’re sending the message that they don’t want women to feel safe at those venues. This set took place at the Governor’s Comedy Club on Long Island on December 16th.
Here’s an excerpt where the comedian’s brand of humor will forever out him as a transphobic comedian:
“You should address me…” They’re like royalty! They tell you what to call them. You should address me as they/them, because I identify as gender-neutral.” Oh, ok. You should address me as “there” because I identify as a location. And the location is your mother’s c*nt.”
It is possible for one to tell jokes and punch up the transgender community. But CK chooses to go the route of Ricky Gervais and others and punch down the transgender community. What is clear however is that Louis CK is not ready for a comeback. He’s certainly not the comedian that he used to be when making late-night appearances.
While the YouTube link is reportedly down, it doesn’t change the fact that Louis CK said these things. This stand-up set comes days after video from 2011 re-surfaced from an HBO special where the comedian used the N word. The comedian also used the R word according to some internet reports.
