From All Corners comes from Japan and this documentary feature tells one of the most unique and interesting stories that exists when it comes to collecting cardboard.

For Fuyuki Shimazu, someone else’s trash is another person’s wallet.  His own personal slogan is:  “From unnecessary to important.”

This Japanese artist in particular will go through a lot of trouble if it means being able to collect the cardboard that he needs to design the wallets that will eventually be sold.  These wallets have a high art value and one company even goes as far as selling them for $100.  He has gone on travels that have taken him to 27 countries across the globe to spread his message or pick up cardboard.  Rather than use the terms recycle or re-use, the wallets are described as being “upcycled” if you will.  What this exactly means is still hard to determine but there’s an environmental message to go along with it.

One such example of some of the cardboard that Shimazu uses to in order to design wallets are the cardboard that Coca-Cola uses for the products sold in Israel.  He refers to it as “the best kind of cardboard.”

This is the first documentary feature to be directed by Ryusuke Okajima.

With an environmental message at the core of the film, From All Corners is about as a unique as a documentary film is able to get.
