D23 Expo 2017: Artwork for Star Wars lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World unveiled

The epic, fully detailed model of the Star Wars-themed lands under development at Disneyland park in Anaheim, California and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida remains on display in Walt Disney Parks and Resorts' "A Galaxy of Stories" pavilion throughout D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center. On Thursday at the D23 Expo 2017, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek gave us the first look at the model of the Star Wars-themed lands that are curently being developed at the Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif. and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla.

The exhibition will be on display at the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ “A Galaxy of Stories” pavilion throughout the expo.
“To say we are excited for the Star Wars -themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement,” Chapek said. “All along, we have said this will be game-changing , and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”
More information on the development was expected to be delivered during the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Hall D23 Presentation on Saturday (Editor’s note: I’m writing about this from Chicago and pre-scheduled my post for Saturday night).
What we know about the Star Wars-themed lands is that it’s a never-before seen planet.  The pavilion will have models, artwork, and media on display providing us the first look at the locations, creatures, and droids that people will encounter upon their arrival.
What we also know is that the lands will have two anchor attractions: a chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission and one that puts us right smack in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.  Both lands are going to be 14 acres each.
Having been on Star Tours during all my trips to Disney World (the first trip was before I became the Star Wars fan that I am today), I’m pretty excited to go back for the next trip after the new attraction opens in 2019.
