Star Wars: The Last Jedi: Is Rey the daughter of Luke Skywalker?

Lucasfilm

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi looming at the end of the year, there’s a lot of predictions to be made that can go either right or wrong.  One of the much-discussed predictions is that Daisy Ridley’s Rey is either Luke Skywalker’s daughter or Obi-Wan Kenobi’s grand-daughter.

There’s no proof one way or the other to know for sure.  Hamill didn’t do the discussion any favors during the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel held this past April during Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017.  While the Star Wars veteran is a notable prankster, he started to refer to Ridley as his daughter but not before quickly correcting himself to say his colleague.  Was this his way of confirming the suspicion or a way of playing with the fans?

According to Ridley, the new movie is expected to dive into her history.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi cast includes Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis with newcomers Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran.

Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Pictures will open Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15, 2017.
