CCFF: Dog Years (The Last Movie Star) walks through memory lane

Lil (Ariel Winter) Sitting at Bar with Vic Edwards (Burt Reynolds) in THE LAST MOVIE STAR.

Dog Years, which will eventually be released as The Last Movie Star, shows us what would happen when an aging celebrity in the third act of their life decides to accept an invite to your basement film festival.

Written and directed by Adam Rifkin, Dog Years stars Burt Reynolds, Ariel Winter, Clark Duke, Ellar Coltrane, Nikki Blonsky, Juston Street, AL-Jaleel Ishaq Knox, Kathleen Nolan, and Chevy Chase.

Burt Reynolds stars as Vic Edwards, an aging celebrity who receives an invitation to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nashville Film Festival.  Upon his arrival to Nashville, the actor soon realizes that it is barely even a festival, if at all.  He feels humiliated to have shown up for an event put on by nobodies.

Edwards soon asks his personal driver and assistant for the weekend, Lil (Ariel Winter), to take him to Knoxville.  Lil isn’t the most stable person at the moment so the two make for good company in the drive to Knoxville.  The actor takes a walk through memory lane as he revisits his past and starts to understand his life and the values that he’s forgotten about.

Just as with The Hero, Dog Years also deals with an aging actor playing a thinly veiled version of themselves.

No distributor or release date have been announced.
